2014 concerts

Sunday 23rd November 2014, 3.30pm at Horniman MuseumPaprika (including Milos Milivojevic – accordion, and Bogdan Vacarescu – violin) perform as part of the London Jazz Festival

Sunday 9th November 2014. at Southbank Centre. Julian West is organising this free event (but entry is by ticket only) for children aged 5-11. Create a piece of music inspired by artefacts from the 1st World War. If you play an instrument, bring it along with you.

Saturday 18th October 2014, 7.30pm. at LSO ST Lukes. Harriet Mackenzie and the English Symphony Orchestra will be performing the world Premiere by Deborah Pritchard. Wall of Water, inspired by paintings by Maggi Hambling. Also included in the programme will be 2 UK premieres.

Saturday 10th October 2014, 7.30pm. Stringfever start off their 10th anniversary UK tour at the Shaw Theatre, London. Stringfever performed for Chamber Players in 2009 and again in February 2014. If you heard them either perform at either of these concerts you will know that this is something special – they will be throwing in some new material for the Tour, so do go along for another chance to hear this concert. Other dates around the UK also.

Monday 18th August 2014, 7.30pm. Harriet Mackenzie and Milos Milivojevic will be performing for Chamber Players opening night concert.

Friday 25th July 2014, 1.00pm. Emma Blanco and Ahmed Dickinson will performing at theSouthbank Centre for a free lunchtime concert.

Saturday 19th July 2014. 11.15am. Toy Symphony at St Bartholomew’s Church Sydenham
A family workshop and concert, presented by the Chamber Players team as part of the Sydenham Arts Festival.
Come along and choose an instrument, or make one, or bring one along with you. Have a go at playing a cukoo, nightingale, triangle, trumpet or drum – or even try out being a conductor. The children will rehearse and perform Leopold Mozart’s Toy Symphony (scored for strings and assorted whistles, rattles, and percussion) alongside professional string players. The performance of the Toy Symphony will then be followed by a short recital given by the professional string quartet.

Friday 13th June, 1.10pm at St James’ Picadilly is another chance to hear Harriet Mackenzieperform, this time with duo partner Morgan Szymanski (guitar)

Wednesday 11th June, 7.30pm. Kosmos Ensemble, who performed at the opening night concert back in 2010 are performing in one of london’s most curious landmarks. The Brunel Museum holds concerts in the huge underground chamber. The acoustics are wonderful. The atmosphere is exciting, and the music is superb.

Sunday 8th June 2014. 3.00pm. Playtime concert with Keziah Thomas – harp.
A Sunday afternoon opportunity to bring young children to listen to a concert in a relaxed, informal environment. Keziah has performed at many Playtime concerts, and has become a favourite with the parents and children. This concert will take place in a private residence in Beckenham (details to follow) and will include cake and drinks. Weather permitting, there will be time to play in the garden afterwards. All proceeds go towards the Chamber Players scholarship fund.

Wednesday 14th May 2014. 7.30pm. Chilingirian Quartet perform in the Dulwich Festival
Don’t miss a chance to hear one of our country’s most celebrated quartets, performing locally, in Dulwich. Christ’s Chapel is a lovely intimate venue for string quartet recitals. It is in the heart of Dulwich Village, just next door to the Picture Gallery.

Tuesday 6th May 2014. 1.00pm. Lunchtime concert at St Martins in the Fields – Retorica Duo
Harriet Mackenzie will be performing the Opening night concert at Chamber Players with accordionist Milos Milivojevic. if you can’t wait until then, however – on Tuesday 6th May, she will be giving a free, lunchtime concert at St Martins in the Fields with Philippa Mo. This violin duo performs such fantastic repertoire, if you are in Central London what better treat for the day than to pop in and listen.

Saturday 26th April 2014. 6.30pm. fundraising concert at Schott Music Shop
A fundraising concert for Chamber Players, given by chamber groups coached by Chamber Players tutors during the term time.
The concert will start at 6.30pm, and will feature a variety of ensembles from piano trio, string trio and quartet. All proceeds go towards the Chamber players Scholarship fund. £10 full price / £7.50 concession. Tickets can be booked by phone on 020 7534 0710.

Thursday 6th march 2014. 7.30pm. The Chamber music of Brahms and Dvorak.
St Christopher’s Hospice, Lawrie Park Road, Sydenham SE26 6DZ.
Chamber Players tutor Tony Woollard will be performing in this concert.

Saturday 1st February 2014. 7.30pm. Stringfever perform at Dulwich Prep, London.
Tickets £12 full / £8 concession / £32 family discount price. This is a benefit concert for the Chamber Players scholarship fund.

Thursday 2nd January 2014. 7.30pm The London Cellophonics
